About the Job
The Credit Manager will be responsible for assessing and managing the credit risk of an organization by evaluating creditworthiness by making disbursement decisions, setting credit policies, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. He/She will work closely with credit officers, finance, and risk management teams to maintain a healthy balance between credit risk and business growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION

* Location Head Office in Bulaga
* Reporting line Chief Executive Officer
* Direct reports Branch manager -Ibanda branch and Credit
Credit Risk Assessment & Approval
Evaluate and analyze financial statements, credit reports, and payment history of
customers.
Determine creditworthiness and set credit limits for new and existing clients.
Approve or reject credit applications based on established policies.
Credit Policy & Compliance
Develop and enforce company credit policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial standards.
Monitor and update credit policies to align with industry best practices.
Debt Collection & Accounts Receivable Management
Oversee timely collection of outstanding payments and minimize bad debt.
Work with customers to establish payment plans when necessary.
Coordinate with legal teams for debt recovery actions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare reports on credit risk, outstanding receivables, and bad debts and
submit monthly portfolio performance reports to management.
Monitor key credit performance indicators (KPIs) and trends and submit monthly
budget variance analysis reports to management.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for improvement
Analyzing the daily and Weekly monitoring reports and give timely feedback to
the
responsible staff.
Preparing monthly targets of disbursements, portfolio, PAR>1day, PAR>30
days,arrears and number of clients by 7 th day of the month.
Ensuring systematic and standard weekly credit up-dates by credit staff during
the weekly meetings both at head office and branch.
Updating the CEO with weekly portfolio performance reports, with Actions taken
by Tuesday of the following week.
Periodically evaluating Company portfolio performance vis-à-vis work plans and budget and timely submitting a report to CEO.
Ensuring Company profitability.
Effective management of the financial resources including staff
accountableadvances and submitting accountabilities to finance department.
Effective implementation of audit recommendations
Relationship Management & Communication
Collaborate with credit and finance teams to balance business growth and credit
risk.
Maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
Negotiate credit terms and conditions with clients on behalf of the organization.
Leadership and line management
Preparing the strategic business plan for the department.
Implementing credit annual plans and budgets.
Ensuring credit staff make monthly plans and accompanying budgets.
Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures by staff.
Ensuring effective communication and information flow between the Headand
theBranch offices.
Take corrective measures whenever a credit problem arises.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Microfinance, Business
Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience with a minimum of 5 yearsin credit management, risk
assessment, or financial analysis.
Experience working typicallyin an office setting within a finance, banking, or
corporate environment.
Key Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of credit risk assessment techniques.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in financial software and credit analysis tools.
Attention to detail and ability to make data-driven decisions.
Fluency in the English language with working knowledge in Luganda
and/orRunyakitara
