Credit Officer

Bulaga Head Office & Ibanda Branch Fixed-Term Contract Deadline: 8 September 2026

The Credit Officer will assess and manage client credit risk, evaluate creditworthiness, make recommendations for approval, support disbursement, monitor loans and contribute to timely recovery while balancing credit risk and business growth.

Credit Officer

The Credit Officer is responsible for assessing and managing the credit risk of clients, evaluating creditworthiness, making recommendations for approvals, disbursing, monitoring and recovery.

Client Mobilisation

  • Identify new business opportunities for Destiny Microfinance Limited.
  • Identify and liaise with local leaders.
  • Conduct promotional meetings to disseminate information about Destiny products.

Client Training & Assessment

  • Conduct pre- and post-credit training on Destiny methodologies, policies, processes and loan management.
  • Support training in group dynamics and business management.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential clients.
  • Prepare for and participate in credit committee meetings.
  • Sensitise clients about repayment requirements and dues.

Loan Management & Recovery

  • Support clients in completing loan application forms.
  • Appraise clients and recommend appropriate loan amounts based on their ability to pay.
  • Support timely disbursement of approved loans.
  • Monitor loans and undertake regular recovery activities.
  • Track repayments and follow up on defaulters.
  • Verify client payments for accuracy and work to minimise arrears.
  • Maintain good customer care.

Reporting

  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly portfolio reports.
  • Submit portfolio reports to the Credit Supervisor within the required timelines.
